Our Roots Run Deep

Handley Lumber began with a vision — and a planing mill. In 1936, Joe Handley Sr. purchased the Fenelon Falls site, bringing with him years of experience from sawmills in Burnt River and Crystal Lake. From that red mill, we started producing high-quality dressed lumber and finished wood products.

Through fires, rebuilds, and a lot of hard-earned trust, the business passed through four generations of the Handley family. From Joe to Ray, from Ken to Chris — each generation has added to the legacy, growing the company from a modest mill to a cornerstone of the community. Erick Watson, who has worked with the family for over 55 years, remains one of the many friendly faces familiar to locals.

Over time, we’ve evolved into a full-service building supply store, expanding from milling into retail and custom millwork. While the tools and technology have changed, our values never have.
